Sawyer is a little bit of a loner and prefers to stay in his pen during the day. He is now out by himself at night and is starting to take an interest in "talking" to the other pigs through the fence. He doesn’t go very far, but does spend time talking to Floyd in the evening, which is funny because their pens are right next to each other. I guess it makes a difference that Sawyer is out and Floyd is in his pen. |

Until her owner had to move, Shadow lived at a day care center. Shadow moved to Belly Draggers, complete with her own log cabin house. She is very fond of eating and spends her entire day out in the pasture munching grass. She puts on a few pounds every spring and loses them when the pasture dries up. |

This beautiful little pig was roaming with a boar (whom we have named Joe Big). She arrived at the San Martin Shelter covered in ticks and fleas and also pregnant. We don’t know how far along she is. The fleas and ticks have been removed. She is a shy little girl and we are working on getting her used to us. We estimate her age at under 1 year old.
Update March 23, 2005:
Snickers had three piglets. One was born dead, one was deformed and died soon after birth, and the third died the next day. Snickers was just too young to have babies. She was adopted by the Nugent family and is doing terrific! |

Spike came with his mom from a couple who said they rescued the pigs from terrible circumstances in a trailer park. They assured us both pigs were spayed and neutered. Since it was dark and we really couldn’t see, we took their word for it. By the next morning, Spike, just a little guy, had slipped in with Luli. We didn’t think anything of it until Luli presented us with Pigbert. Spike and Bonnie were pretty deprived when they arrived and Spike lost most of his tail. In addition to complaining about everything, Spike can never seem to get enough to eat, so he’ll probably always be overweight. |
